The only manufacturer of wood drill bits in France and one of two in Europe produces nearly 300,000 per year. Exclusively in steel, the 3,000 references with a diameter of six to 32 mm and a length of 200 to 650 mm for standard drill bits.

Custom-made parts, which sometimes require up to ten weeks of manufacturing time, can reach 80 mm in diameter and 2.5 m in length. The company with 14 employees has broken through abroad with 60% of its production exported to Germany, Austria, England, Belgium, Spain, Portugal and Croatia via a network of distributors specializing in woodworking trades. André Ertzscheid, “the first non-Bonnet” to have taken over the century-old company a year ago, proves that he is a man of challenges. “We must constantly adapt to market developments. » A drill bit machined in just two days to respond to an emergency on a customer’s construction site? Not even scared! “The decree of December 18, 2018 prohibiting the use of creosote-treated oak railway sleepers forced SNCF to turn to much harder exotic woods such as azobe or green ebony, for which we must provide drilling solutions.” The entrepreneur plans to transform the traditional workshop into two automated production lines by next summer and to invest in two sharpening robots for small and large diameters, as well as an automatic milling machine instead of six machines, in a lean approach to inventory optimization.
