Save energy with Bonnet drill bits?!
How can you imagine saving energy by using Bonnet & Fils wood drill bits? Yet, it’s a fact established by several tests. Here’s how :

Manual test : An electric battery was fully charged, then installed under the hand drill. A single-spiral 18 mm diameter wood drill bit “made in China” was mounted on the drill to drill a 200 mm thick glulam beam. After 17 holes, the battery was empty. After fully recharging, the same exercise was performed with a Bonnet & Fils wood drill bit with equivalent specifications to the competitor’s drill bit. 32 holes were drilled… Interesting? What if you had to drill these same holes in a roof frame?
Machine test : To confirm this test, a project was set up with ENSTIB (the Epinal Wood University) with the support of CETIM. On an SCM machine, softwood and oak beams (120×120 mm section) were drilled in series with “Made in China” drill bits and “Bonnet & Fils” drill bits. After a series of 10 drilling operations, the power consumed and the temperature of the drill bit were recorded (see graph). The results are clear and confirm the manual test. “Made in China” drill bits consume twice as much energy as Bonnet & Fils drill bits.
